Understanding the relevance of the document
Since 1 January 2023, following the end of the UCITS exemption, the Packaged Retail and Insurance-based Investment Products (PRIIPs) Key Information Document (KID) has become an essential document for fund managers distributing their products to retail investors in the European Union, Switzerland and, with slight variation, the United Kingdom.
A PRIIPs KID is required for investment products made available to retail investors in the European Union or the United Kingdom. This includes UCITS funds, Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs), structured products, and funds used within insurance-based investment products, such as unit-linked structures.
